Daniel Cooney Fine Art is pleased to announce our first solo exhibition of paintings by French artist and cinematographer Benoit Delhomme. The exhibition, titled “My Hollywood” will consist of approximately 20 colorful abstract figurative paintings with text on paper in various sizes. The paintings date from 2016.

Born in 1961 in a suburb of Paris, Delhomme spent his childhood in Cherbourg, Normandy and studied cinematography at the Ecole Louis Lumière in Paris. He has served as Director of Photography for more than 35 international movies including “The Theory of Everything” (Dir. James Marsh), “Salome” (Dir.

Al Pacino), A Most Wanted Man” (Dir. Anton Corbijn), “The Proposition” (Dir. John Hillcoat) and “The Scent of Green Papaya” (Dir. Tran Ahn Hung) among others. He has also shot many commercials and videos for Tom Ford, Nike, Armani, Cartier, Dior and Chanel.

In addition to his film work Delhomme has been privately painting for the past 20 years, developing a highly personal style of primitive and humorous imagery interspersed with text. The paintings address the personalities, egos, aura and emotions of Hollywood life. “You have no idea how lonely I am when I go home”, says one actress. “Tell me who you want me to be”, says an androgynous pink figure. Delhomme has said, “I am fascinated by what actors go through to play a character, how scared they get and how lonely they seem. The paintings are my homage, my declaration of love to the actors and actresses that I have been working with over the years.”
